How to Set Clock on Panasonic Microwave (Complete Guide)

Jeegna | 05-01-2023

In case you haven’t noticed, microwave clocks are really handy features. Not only do they help you get the timing just right for that exotic cuisine you’ve been meaning to try, but they also ensure that you don’t lose track of time during your morning routines.

The downside (if you can call it that) is, clocks on Panasonic microwaves can be perplexing to set. And since they typically need to be set at first use and after every power outage or reset, setting Panasonic microwave clocks is a minor inconvenience that you just can’t avoid.

How to Set Clock on Panasonic Microwave

Depending on the Panasonic microwave model in your home, you can set the clock on it by pressing the Timer/Clock, Clock/Set, or Clock buttons. Use the numbers on the number pad (or turn the dial) to set the correct time, then press the corresponding button to get the clock up and running.

Setting the clock on Panasonic microwaves is a straightforward process in some models. However, it’s a bit more of a head-scratcher on some other models. If you would like some help figuring out how to set the clock on your Panasonic microwave, we’ve outlined all the steps for all the different Panasonic oven models.

Setting the Clock With the Timer/Clock Button

We’re starting with this one because it seems to be the one that most users struggle with. And that’s mostly down to the fact that the clock feature on this microwave is integrated with the microwave’s timer.

Panasonic microwaves with this configuration have their clock and timer features controlled by a single button. Pressing this button a certain number of times will activate either of these functions. The trick, then, is knowing how many times to press the Timer/Clock button to activate your desired setting.

Setting the Clock With the Timer Clock Button On Panasonic Microwave

To set the clock on Panasonic microwaves with the Timer/Clock button, you will need to press the button twice in quick succession, or until “Set Time” flashes on the display. The time on the display will immediately change to a blinking colon, to indicate that the clock has been reset.

Next, set the correct time using the number buttons on the number pad. A single press of each button is enough.

Panasonic microwaves with this design (and with the Timer/Clock button) are usually preset with a 12-hour clock, but there’s no need to make the AM/PM distinction.

Now, if your Panasonic microwave model has three time touch pads, there may be a slight tweak in the process of setting the clock on it. If you’ve noticed, each of the time buttons is labeled with time values indicating 10min, 1min, and 10sec. The buttons are arranged in a horizontal line.

All three time pads don’t work as labeled, however. Hours are advanced by the 10-minute pad. Using the one-minute pad, you can advance the time by five minutes. By pressing the 10-second pad, you advance the minutes by one. You just need to keep tapping until you get the right time.

Once you’re all set, and everything is in order, you may then press the Timer/Clock button to get the clock working.

There! That wasn’t so hard, was it? Let’s go over that again, this time step by step.

  1. Press the Timer/Clock button twice in quick succession
  2. Set the correct time with the number pad
  3. Press the Timer/Clock button once to confirm your new settings and get the clock to start working

Setting the Clock With the Clock/Set Button

Certain Panasonic microwave models have a Clock/Set button instead of a Clock or Timer/Clock button.

Since pressing this button takes you directly to the clock reset function, things do not get much easier than this when your Panasonic microwave’s clock needs a good reset.

It only takes a few seconds to learn how, and once you get the hang of it, you’ll be setting the clock on your microwave like a pro whenever there’s a power cut, or whenever you need to switch to daylight saving time.

Pressing the Clock/Set button will take you directly to the microwave’s clock function. Before you do this, though, make sure that the microwave is not currently in use.

Immediately after you press the Clock/Set button, a flashing colon will appear on the display, indicating that the clock is ready to be set.

Next, enter the correct time using the number buttons on the number pad.

Here again, you’ll only need to press the buttons once each, so be careful not to apply too much pressure on them.

If your Panasonic microwave model has a dial knob instead of a number pad, you’ll need to change the process a bit, although it’s still largely the same.

The difference is, you’ll need to set the correct time by turning the dial instead of pressing the number pad

As soon as you’ve set the current time, press Clock/Set once again to confirm your new settings.

It’ll probably take just a few seconds from start to finish to set the clock of your Panasonic microwave using the Clock/Set button. Once again, let’s break down the whole process into easy-to-manage steps.

  1. Press the Clock/Set button
  2. Set the correct time with the numbers on the numeric keypad or use the dial knob
  3. PressClock/Set again to complete your settings.

Setting the Clock with the Clock Button

This is arguably the simplest method of setting or resetting your Panasonic microwave’s clock. On some models, this button is represented as Clock (Less).

To begin, you’ll need to press the Clock or Clock (Less) button.

In certain Panasonic microwave models, this button is right next to the Timer button. Unlike in models with the Timer/Clock button, both features have been separated here.

Once you press the Clock or Clock (Less) button, the clock will reset and a flashing colon will appear on the microwave’s display. In some models, “Set Clock” will flash across the screen before the flashing colon appears.

Set the correct time using the appropriate number buttons on the microwave’s number pad, then press the Clock or Clock (Less) button once again to get the clock up and running.

If your microwave model has time pads instead of number buttons, press the 1h button first, after pressing the Clock or Clock (Less) button.

You can advance the hours shown on the clock by repeatedly tapping this. The display will cycle back to 0 after 24 hours if you continue too far. You should be aware that this Panasonic microwave model employs a 24-hour clock.

Next, press the 10min button to set the minutes. This button functions in much the same way as the hour button, but there are only 6 steps here (to reflect 10 to 60 minutes) instead of 24.

The last digit on the minute’s hand is the last to be adjusted. To do this, press the 1min button between 1 to 9 times, depending on the correct value to be set.

Finally, press the Clock button once to conclude your settings.

Here’s the entire process presented in steps:

  1. Press the Clock or Clock (Less) button
  2. Use the number pad or time buttons to set the current time
  3. Confirm your settings by pressing the Clock or Clock Less button once again.

When You Need To Reset Your Microwave’s Time

Microwave technology has come a long way, but a few things are still currently beyond it. For instance, microwaves cannot automatically reset their time, unlike mobile phones. Consequently, they require the input of their users with this simple task, sometimes more times than is convenient. Here are some instances where you may need to manually reset your microwave’s time:

1. When there is a Power Cut

If there is a disruption in the power supply of your microwave for any reason (such as an unplugging, a power surge, or a power cut), your microwave will typically get turned off. When you turn it back on, you’ll need to reset the clock. Microwaves cannot yet automatically update their clocks.

2. When you Reset the Microwave

A good reset will effectively fix most small problems with your microwave. As a trade-off, your microwave’s clock will be affected by the reset, and you will need to set it again once your microwave is back working properly.

3. After you Repair the Microwave

Since you will need to switch off and unplug your microwave oven before carrying out any repair work on it, you’ll need to also manually reset the clock once you turn it back on.

Panasonic Microwave User Manual

Every product’s user manual contains product-specific troubleshooting tips. If there are other issues with your Panasonic Microwave which we haven’t mentioned here, or you’d like to find additional information, it’s best to consult your microwave’s user manual.

In case you can’t access the one that came with your microwave, you may find an electronic version online. Simply follow these steps to find it:

Panasonic Support

If you’d rather contact Panasonic Support, there are multiple platforms through which you can reach them.

The first and most convenient is their online chat service, which is available from 9 AM to 5 PM on weekdays and Sundays.

You may also reach them via telephone. The Panasonic appliance support phone number is (877) 803-8492. Phone lines are open between 9 AM – 5 PM on weekdays.
